York's big showdown with the Somerset Patriots couldn't have come at a more trying time for the Revs. York's pitching staff needs a week to regroup after the club dropped five of its last six games.
Here's a quick rundown of the Revs pitching concerns.
* Right-handed reliever Jason Olson is expected to miss the entire series to attend personal business ... .
* Right-handed starter Frank Castillo pitched for an inning Tuesday, his first appearance since allowing five runs in 2 2/3 innings Aug. 15. York manager Chris Hoiles said Castillo has been sore, but will be reintroduced in the starting rotation soon.
* Right-handed reliever Jeff Farnsworth is sick and did not dress for Tuesday's game.
* Left-handed reliever Victor Kleine pitched two innings and was struck in the chest with a line drive, but finished the game.
* And right-handed closer Franklin Nunez had his contract purchased by the Milwaukee Brewers before Tuesday's game. He was sent to Triple-A Nashville.
York manager Chris Hoiles admitted the shortcomings of his pitching staff. Asked who would close games now that Nunez has left, he replied: "Any ideas?"
Hoiles also revealed that the team had toyed with the idea of allowing designated hitter Jason Aspito finish Tuesday's game because they wanted to save arms.
It's been a tough week for the Revs.
