Revs director of operations Adam Gladstone said he would love to take credit for the signing of team sparkplug Kennard Jones, seen in the above photo congratulating teammate Jason Aspito.

Gladstone got a call from Jeff Nettles, a former Atlantic League player of his at Somerset, who tipped him off about Jones' release from the Orioles organization.

Jones went on to become York's leadoff hitter and center fielder. He was recently named to a second-team Atlantic League all-star.

"(Nettles) called me and said there is a guy that just got released and needed to play," Gladstone said. "My job is all about relationships and keeping the lines of communication open."

He takes the same approach with the Revs on-field managers and it worked well enough for the team to win the second half Freedom Division title.

"One of the things (York manager) Chris Hoiles, (coaches) Sam (Snyder) and Tippy (Martinez) and I touched on is we laid the ground work," he said. "We've been able to lay the foundation."

Gladstone was pleased to see Aspito named a first-team all-star and three others, pitcher Aaron Rakers, first baseman Chris Ashby and catcher Sandy Aracena joining Jones on the second team.

"It is rewarding when any of our players are recognized for the honor of being recognized on the field," York director of baseball operations Adam Gladstone said. "It means we are going after the right guys.

"Aspito was with us all year and to have the year he had this year was phenomenal. It means we are going after the right guys."
