Local All-Stars return to The Vault

For two years, many of the fans and players in the local adult baseball leagues in York kept their distance from Sovereign Bank Stadium. It appears those days are long gone, especially after a preseason scrimmage featuring the Revolution and an All-Star team of locals drew more than 5,000.

The York County All-Stars will play the United States Military All-Stars at 7 p.m. Friday, July 3 at Sovereign Bank Stadium. Fireworks will follow the game.

The roster for York County will once again be split between players from the Susquehanna and Central leagues. But many of the talented college baseball players who could not play in the April 18 scrimmage will appear in the contest.

Tickets are $8 and will go on sale Friday, May 15. Revolution package ticket-holders can buy tickets for just $4. Group tickets are available for $6.

As with all Revolution home games, a $2 discount will be provided to all those showing military identification. A portion of the proceeds from ticket sales will once again go to the Veterans charities and Susquehanna and Central Leagues to benefit their scholarship funds. Fans can purchase tickets online 24 hours per day at YorkRevolution.com, by calling 717-801-HITS, or in person at the Apple Chevrolet Ticket Office.

This comment ... "For two years, many of the fans and players in the local adult baseball leagues in York kept their distance from Sovereign Bank Stadium" ... is a bid odd and seems to be trying to make local baseball players and fans look bad. Even anti-Revs. Nothing could be further from the truth (if you had bothered to look into the facts). Local baseball players and fans embrace the Revs. However, being that both local adult league's teams play a preseason "Early Bird" weekend tournament, 4-6 preseason games plus numerous evening practices, a 36-game regular season, an in-season Berkshire weekend tournament, 3-11 postseason Playoff games, a Labor Day Weekend "Tom Kerrigan Colonial" tournament, and a weekend County Championship ... plus have full-time jobs and families, it leaves little time to get to a lot of Revs games. I know many local players and fans who have "ticket packages" and those who get to single games throughout the season. In my opinion, your comment is way off base.

Hey John,

Thanks for the comment. Actually, almost all I've heard from local baseball fans -- through word of mouth or e-mails -- for much of the last three years has been negative in relation to the Revs. Here's the most popular stance I've heard over and over and over and over: Why would I pay to watch a bunch of washed out players when I can see a better brand of baseball for free in the Susquehanna and Central leagues? While you may be a fan, and while some local players may respect the team, the overwhelming majority of comments I've heard/seen/read from local fans have been negative.
