Memories of baseball

I first met Jim Cerny in 2001 or 2002. He broadcast games for the New Jersey Jackals, and I was covering a team that no longer exists in a league that has since changed names — a couple times.
I switched jobs. Moved back to Pennsylvania. Covered the creation of a minor league baseball franchise in York. And after the first season began, I noticed Cerny. At least I thought it was the same guy. Only he had become the assistant general manager for the Newark Bears and he still broadcast games on the radio. Not the typical combination, but he made it work.
Cerny has since moved on, returning to work covering the NHL for newyorkrangers.com. If you’ve ever known or worked alongside people in minor league baseball, and watched the ridiculous hours they log at the stadium, you may appreciate his memories of the Newark Bears.

Thanks for sharing that story. I’ve been reading your blog everyday since I found it…about a week ago :) I thought I would let you know I’m out here. I appreciate what you do. Maybe I’ll see you at the game when Rev’s play the Barnstormers.
