Sugar Land Skeeters

The Atlantic League’s two expansion teams scheduled for entry in the league in 2012 now have names. The Sugar Land (Texas) Skeeters are expected to begin play in two years with the Loudon (Va.) Hounds.
The Sugar Land franchise unveiled its name Wednesday.
The Skeeters also unveiled some artist renderings of the proposed $30-million ballpark — which it appears will feature some of the funkiest outfield dimensions in the league.
Fans around the league will notice a number of familiar-looking pictures of stadiums and players on the Skeeters’ website. Owned by Opening Day Partners — the ownership group of Camden, Lancaster, Southern Maryland and York — Sugar Land is also being led by former Revs general manager Matt O’Brien.

About Jim Seip

During one of my first shifts at a newspaper, my editor stood up and cursed out his computer for what seemed like five minutes. It took a few more weeks to realize this type of behavior isn't all that unusual at newspapers.
