York Daily Record/Sunday News Sportswriter Jim Seip has covered minor league baseball since 2001. He's covered the York Revolution since the franchise's first game in 2007.

Any word on Val , Scott Grimes, Corey Thurman?
* Last I heard, Val is in minor league camp with the Texas Rangers. If he doesn’t make the Double- or Triple-A club, he has expressed an interest in coming back to York.
* Last I talked to Grimes, he said it would be difficult not to come back to York since Etch is back as the manager.
* Thurm doesn’t talk about contract negotiations. But a team source told me they want him back. We’ll have to wait and see what happens. Last I heard, the two had not finalized a deal.
Jim,
A few weeks ago, You were certain that Thurm would be the Strarting Opening Day Pitcher in Sugarland! YOU even said, I would think he already signed but THEY were holding it bacik!
Well the Professional that Thurm is, he never wants to talk about things like that! BUT at the Rev’s Fan Club Meeting he was a guest at, He was asked about if he had signed and THE CLASS act Thurm is he handled it professionally!
Where as, I heard Etch say IN PUBLIC, when it was suppose to be CELEBRATION TIME, last year after winning back to back, there would be some fan favorites not coming back due to Money!
Hmm, Fan Fav??
Well insiders tell me, Mr. Ball THE NEW KID in town and Etch maybe playing hardball here!
You know like when the Yanks did not want to look like the Mean person when it came time to resign Joe Torre! So they offer Him a Contract HE CAN NOT accept!
Thurm has done more for this Franchise in 4 Short years then anyone including ETCH!.
He was second in all Pitching Stats last year, and Loree, who finished First in ALL pitching stats is not even in the League this coming season due to how great a year he had last year! SO that leaves Thurm as the Top Gun coming back!
Without Him in Games 1 and 5 in the First Round against Lancaster, York probably does not go on to have a chance to defend the Title!
Ball should be bending over backward to Keep Thurm in a Rev’s Uniform!!
But what he know, he just a money person, with no connections to YORK!
Etch signed Sanchez who walked out on the Team! THURM is a fixture in York City and County! Doing this the right way and making the Rev’s Look Good!
This is the Inside word leaking from Rev’s Office!
I just hope Things work out well for Mr. and Mrs. Thurman and their new baby! WHAT did they have, a boy or girl?
Guess when you do things good and right, you just get what is left! crumbs!
Larry, I understand. I’ve read all your posts.
You don’t like ETCH.
You don’t like SANCHEZ.
And now you don’t like Andrew BALL.
You do like the caps lock key, though.
What I don’t understand is why you are shocked — SHOCKED! — I might have been wrong about something. I’m going by what I have been told. A team source expected Corey to be back in uniform.
Thurman had not signed a deal — that I know of. But it’s also not opening day yet.
I can understand your anger. A lot of people like Corey, he’s done a lot for the club. He’s visible in the community. But it’s a negotiation process. Once Thurman agrees to talk on the record, I’ll have a story. But he has decided to let the negotiations play out behind closed doors. That’s his decision. If he’s upset or hurt or moving on, he will eventually talk.
Nothing against Joe Torre but a better analogy to use may be that of Matt Esquivel and Matt Padgett. Remember what happened when Esquivel went public with his negotiations beef? That’s right, outright release. He’s a great player in this league, an MVP candidate. But the Revs went in a different direction. They didn’t offer Eso a raise. He wouldn’t sign the same contract he had from the year before, so he was released.
Corey’s silence tells me he’s still trying to work out a deal with York.
When I learn something new, I’ll let you know. (Until then, lay off that caps lock key. Give your left pinky finger a rest.)
