The York Revolution has named its first general manager and his name is Matt O'Brien.
From the club's news release:
O’Brien, 35, comes to York with over 13 years of experience in minor league baseball, including being involved in the start up phase of three clubs. Most recently, O’Brien was the vice president and general manager of the Myrtle Beach (S.C.) Pelicans of the Carolina League from October ’02 – June ’06. While with the Pelicans, O’Brien was named Carolina League Executive of the Year in 2005.
A native of Aurora, IL, O’Brien is no stranger to the Atlantic League, having served as general manager of the Long Island Ducks (1999-2002) and assistant general manager of the Somerset Patriots (1998-99). He was the first-ever G.M. of Long Island, where the Ducks averaged a sell-out crowd in all three of his seasons there. O’Brien was assistant G.M. for the Patriots during their successful inaugural season in 1999.
