School is back in session, and drivers will have to watch for buses and students.
State law requires that drivers stop at least 10 feet away from a school bus with its red lights flashing and stop arm extended. Failure to do so could result in a $250 fine, five points on a driver's record and a 60-day license suspension, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.
The only exception is if the driver encounters a school bus stopping on the opposite side of a divided highway. Then drivers are not required to stop.
The speed limit in school zones is 15 miles per hour, and if caught going faster, drivers can face a fine and three points on their driver's record.
