Sometimes I get questions about whether certain road projects are being paid for with stimulus funds.
The widening of East Market Street, which we published a story about on Sunday, is not one.
That work will start in the spring, and the project involves adding more lanes at the intersection of East Market Street and Route 24. (The intersection improvements are being paid for by Springettsbury Township.)
Mike Crochunis, a spokesman for the state Department of Transportation, gave me a list earlier this week of projects in York County being paid for with money from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act:
-- Repaving Route 30 from the Hellam exit to the Susquehanna River.
-- Repaving Route 30 from Interstate 83 to Route 24.
-- Rehabilitating three bridges: Route 921 over Oak Run in Conewago Township; Tunnel Hill Road over the South Branch of the Codorus Creek between North Codorus and York townships; and Shorbs Hill Road over a tributary to the Conewago Creek in West Manheim Township.
-- Repaving Route 15 between Golf Course Road and the Cumberland County line.
-- Resurfacing Route 116 between Jacobs Mill Road and Route 516 in Heidelberg and North Codorus townships.
-- Restoring a bridge carrying Indian Rock Dam Road over the West Branch of the Codorus Creek in North Codorus and West Manchester townships.
-- Adding variable message signs and cameras in York County.
