Waiting

I can't believe it's been as long as it has been since I last updated here. I'm so sorry! We arrived back home on December 5th and I have been swamped with paperwork from the office that was stockpiled for the last 2 months.

Shawna received approximately 10 Million stem cells while we were in China. Now all we have to do is sit back and wait to see what may come from them. They will continue to develop for 6 months, so changes may take place in her from now until June 2008. Her body temperature is back to normal and she continues to make different sounds. Waiting is the horrible part of all of this ... seems like that's all we can do.

I will report immediately if there is any significant changes.

I'm so glad you will continue to update this blog. I don't know you or your family but I have been following this story and have said tons of prayers for Shawna and the rest of you.

Dear Lorraine, Gary and Shawna:

I just recently come across your website and story. My 21-year old son too suffered a severe brain injury 3 years ago and remains in a semi-conscious state unable to speak, eat by mouth, walk or see. Like you,I realize that stem cell treatments are his only hope. I applaud you and your family, and understand your wish to recover even a small bit of your lovely Shawna. I feel the same way about my son. I know it has been 4 long and difficult years for you. Keep up the great work. Shawna knows you love her! I will read your updates regularly, and wish you all the best.
