Although it’s not quite the New Year, the York County Buy Fresh, Buy Local chapter will hold its 2012 promotional kick-off and annual meeting 7 p.m. Dec. 6. Current and potential partners, along with everyday supporters of the buy local movement, are invited.
According to a press release, the meeting will include a recap of 2011, information on new promotions & fundraisers for 2012, a presentation on why Buy Fresh Buy Local matters, approval of by-laws & election of officers, information about volunteer opportunities and — of course — local, fresh refreshments.
The York County chapter’s mission to connect the people of York County to locally produced food and farm products. Often the hardest part of buying local is finding a place to do so — luckily, York County has a surplus of farmers, orchards, CSAs, farmers markets, local restaurants and caterers, wineries and more. Check out the chapter’s Facebook page for more information.
The kick-off will be held at Adams Electric Building, 200 Trinity Road, York. Seating for the Dec. 6 meeting is limited, so the chapter requests that you RSVP by Nov. 28. Email Kim Gross at yorkbfbl@yahoo.com or call 814-8141.
