Pinterest… I am a little obsessed with you. I have 20 boards on which I’ve “pinned” so many little bits of inspiration. Factor into that the new house, a blank canvas in terms of design ideas. All of our possessions are in and we’re almost unpacked. Now it’s time to add a few personal touches.
My Pinterest board has served me well with design ideas. I’ve been pinning and repinning to my heart’s content. So far I’ve racked up quite a few ideas I’d love to try out… like this repurposed old ladder that doubles as extra laundry room storage.
I love breathing new life into an older piece that may otherwise go unnoticed. For this reason, I’ve collected old farm crates, old milk and medicine bottles, and scores of other flea market goodies over the years. Now I just need to find an old door with character to recreate this look… They used this as a pantry door. Sadly, I don’t have a pantry, but I do have a walk-in closet that could use a little sprucing up.
There seems to be a wealth of television shows about finding and repurposing great old pieces (I’m thinking about you American Pickers!). If you’ve joined in on the craze, may I suggest checking out Refindings: York’s Architectural Warehouse located at 465 E. Prospect Street. It’s a great architectural salvage resource filled with windows, doors, mantels and more, all with past lives and lots of character. Zach and I found some old shutters that doubled up as place card holders for our wedding. We also found an old school desk, which has yet to find a permanent place in the house.
If you go, let me know what cool things you find. Also, if you think of a good idea for that old school desk of mine, please share it here.

Recently married, new house, perhaps a baby on the way might necessitate the need to repurpose that old desk into a baby changing table… The drawers would be good for holding supplies & many new parents opt for the changing top pad that allows you to reuse the piece of furniture again as opposed to the old once and done changing table.
