The best kind of cake

Smart magazine on FacebookThere is a minor interoffice quarrel going on between visuals editor Brad Jennings and I. It’s about cake. And pie. And how cake is clearly the better of the two, but Brad refuses to acknowledge it.

Our debate gets reignited every so often as we try to recruit warriors on each side. Pi Day led to some choice words. Then, when the Living staff was treated to a delicious ice-cream cake Wednesday, I declared ice-cream cake to be the best of the cakes.

Then we reached out on the Smart magazine Facebook page to see who agreed.

Smart magazine: We’re having a little cake talk at the office. Smart blogger Sarah Chain said “Ice cream cake is the best kind of cake.” Any challengers? What do you say? — Jess

Victoria Slaugh: COOKIE CAKE!!
Jasmine Knaub: Chocolate cake with peanut butter icing :)
Michelle Seener: Carrot cake, if it is made right. Not that I can do it right but I love when other people do.
Smart magazine: Oh, I didn’t even think about cookie cake! It’s good, too! I’d have to say my favorite, though, is chocolate cake with peanut butter icing. — Jess
Shannon Faircloth: My mom’s banana split cake is the best!
Smart magazine: We got a few votes in the office for cheesecake, too. But I stand by my original choice! — Sarah
Lindsy Carey O’Connor: Cheesecake all the way!

What would you choose as your favorite cake? Or — dare I ask — are you a pie lover?
