Did you know one in four girls will be sexually assaulted before she turns 16?
Or that one in six boys will be sexually assaulted before his 18th birthday?
Those are just two of the statistics released by YWCA York ahead of today’s Sexual Assault Awareness Month kickoff.
The month-long mission to raise awareness and end sexual violence will begin with an event at noon today on the Continental Square in downtown York, where the mayor will read a proclamation, according to a release from YWCA York.
Other events slated for Sexual Assault Awareness Month include:
• “The Vagina Monologues”: 7 p.m. March 28, 29 and 30 at Penn State York; 6 p.m. March 29 at HACC’s York Campus; and 7 p.m. April 21 at Unitarian Universalist Congregation of York
