Hookworms as a cure and allergen-free eggs?

I came across two unusual pieces of food-allergy news.

First was Dr. James Logan, who infected himself with hookworms, then swallowed a pill camera to follow them. Apparently, previous research has shown the little suckers can “alleviate and even cure symptoms of food allergies.”

Interesting. Would you participate in a trial study that required you to be infected with hookworms? Would you let your kids? Vote in the poll, and leave your comments below.

Second, some researchers Down Under are in the process of trying to produce chickens that will lay allergen-free eggs.

Wild, right?

They claim to have figured out how to “switch off” the four egg white proteins. Hence, chickens laying allergen-free eggs.

I guess we can keep our fingers crossed ….
