I mentioned in last week’s post that I’d be checking in here on Smart each Tuesday with more thoughts on homeschooling.
As I said before, we’re very relaxed homeschoolers – in some circles, we’d be called unschoolers – and we focus much of our learning on whatever Sarah, who is 12, is interested in at the time.
One of the biggest misconceptions about our style of homeschooling is that it’s somehow less “work” – or less educational – than its more formal counterparts, either other styles of homeschooling or private or public schools.
We passionately believe Sarah’s learning – and learning a LOT – in the way that best suits her – but we’re also passionate that every child is different, and what might be a great way of promoting education for her might be a total flop for someone else!
So, recently, we asked Sarah to list her 10 favorite things about being homeschooled (in our particular style).
Find out what she said at Our School at Home. I’ll give you a hint – some of the top reasons might be pictured above!
(And while you’re there, don’t miss the calligraphy projects that Sarah and I just worked on together and some gratuitous photos and a cute cat video from our week!)
