York County Farmgirl chapter seeks new members

Mary Jane Farmgirls Chapter York CountyBack-the-land living is enjoying quite the renaissance — folks in cities, suburbs and country alike have embraced gardens, clotheslines, sustainable living and do-it-yourself ingenuity.

The York County Farmgirl chapter, York Peppermint Patties, aims to give women a place to meet and interact with fellow Farmgirl “sisters.”

The chapter is part of Mary Jane’s Farmgirl Sisterhood, which originated out of Mary Jane Farms in Idaho. The organization says, “It’s not at all about where we live, but how we live,” and offers tips and tricks for everything from crocheting to camping. Sisters can also earn merit badges based on their actions.

For details on the Peppermint Patties,  call Emily at 717-739-8292 or visit the Farmgirl Forum at www.maryjanesfarm.org. The chapter is also planning an informational meeting for 11 a.m. Aug. 18 at Panera Bread, 1221 Carlisle Road, West Manchester Township.
