I’ve never been the type of person who does her Christmas shopping early. I’ve always been the type of person who intends to… it just never quite works out. (Check back with me sometime in mid-December — I’ll be the one having a panic attack over a gift for my dad.)
But I do like to explore my options early on, and this week, York offers two events where shoppers can do just that:
- The Friendship Craft Center will be home to Christmas at the Guild Nov. 8-11, with juried, original artisan works and paintings for sale. It could be the perfect spot to find something for your hard-to-please sister or mother-in-law. Admission and parking is free.
- The Historical Society Museum of the York County Heritage Trust will host the Festival of Trees Nov. 9-12, with decorated trees, wreaths, gifts baskets, collectibles and packages both on display and for purchase. Sounds like a good place to find inspiraton for holiday decorating! Admission is $5; children 12 years and younger are admitted free.
Of course, the holidays are also about giving back, the main mission of the Adams County Children’s Advocacy Center’s Snowflake Gala. Scheduled for 6 p.m. Nov. 9 in Gettysburg, the evening includes dinner, live music, dancing and an auction. Perhaps a special night out before the schedule gets overwhelming?
