I came home Friday night with a bag full of goodies — from baked goods to cheese curds and specialty sauces — each from vendors at Pa Gourmet.
I started the four-hour food and wine tasting extravaganza with my friend, Lisa. With goodie bags and a wine glass in hand, we went down each row of tables to sample the many prepared foods and spirits.
Here are just a few of the items that stood out to me:
BBQ Stu‘s sweet and spicy barbecue sauces were great to sample. Lisa and I each bought a bottle of the Pennsylvania Gold mustard sauce, but agreed the Steel City Blast Furnace X-Xtra Hot was really tasty.
PA Wine and Spirits martini demonstrations were informative, but not for us. It was clear when they began mixing the “Lust for Life” drink — which cost about $145 until you buy all the liquors needed to create it. We ran out early to go to the Chopped competition.
Leraysville Cheese was at Yorktoberfest earlier this year, but we didn’t get a chance to buy the spicy cheese curds that the company sells. When I saw the stand, I got a little excited and bought two $5 bags of the stuff. It’s great for snacking.
