Tie some bells onto your shoelaces and slip on your Santa hat — it’s time for the third annual Jingle Bell Run/Walk for Arthritis. The races kick off at 9 a.m. Dec. 15 at the Orthopaedic and Spine Specialists of York’s Powder Mill Campus, 1855 Powder Mill Road, York Township.

“The event promotes awareness and raises funds to support arthritis research, community programs and advocacy initiatives that help improve the lives of people with arthritis,” according to a press release.

Participants — encouraged to dress in costume — can choose from a 5K timed run, a 5K walk and a 1-mile “fun run” or walk. The event also includes a kids’ candy lane shuffle and a costume contest. Registration for the races begins at 7:30 a.m.

Registration for the adult races is $30; the kids’ candy lane shuffle is $10. Readers can use the discount code YORK when registering online for a $5 discount through noon Dec. 12.

For details, contact Douglas Knepp, branch director at the Arthritis Foundation’s central PA office, at 717-884-7525 or dknepp@arthritis.org.
