It is the holiday season, and there is always one person for whom present ideas elude you. If you have a creative side and a few bucks, you can make personalized mugs for gifts!
Visit your local craft store and locate the glass decorating aisle. In that aisle are pens in many colors that can be used to draw on ceramic. Make sure before purchasing that the pen says it can be used on ceramics. Also, if you don’t have a plain-colored mug at home, make sure to purchase one almost anywhere: The dollar store or the craft store are two good locations.
When you get home, clean out your mug. Then, draw on the mug. Let it dry in a safe place after you are finished. My pen told me to let it dry for at least four hours.
When that time is over, promptly place in the oven. According to my pen, I had to place the items in an unpreheated oven; and if I wanted to make them dishwasher safe, I had to “cook” the mugs between four and eight hours when the design was placed on it.
And that was it! It was a super easy craft, and I found a purpose for some of my mugs that I don’t use.
