This includes how and when to monitor for key plant pests and beneficial insects, selection of appropriate control measure(s), evaluation of decisions and the importance of record-keeping.
• I am part of the Capital Region Horticulture Team. I will be working with Connie Schmotzer to assist with Master Gardener training.
• Other duties associated with this position include: educational lectures on ornamental insect pests and; entomology lectures to civic organizations, garden clubs and children’s groups; and grant writing to fund research projects.
• I hold a B.S. in biology/ecology from Juniata College, Huntingdon, PA and a M.S. in turfgrass IPM from the Entomology Department at the University of Maryland, College Park, MD. I was employed at The Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station for 8.5 years. Previous to that, I worked for the University of Connecticut Cooperative Extension System for 4 years.
I will try to post on a routine basis. Most of my posts will deal with ornamental plant pests.
