Here is a list of southcentral Pennsylvania agencies who are seeking volunteers.

Human Life Services provides assistance and information on pregnancy issues. The agency is seeking adult volunteers to train as client assistants, help with office work, the clothing closet, public relations, special events or yard and building maintenance as needed.
UCP of South Central PA is seeking adults (age 18 and older) for their “Mentoring Children of Parents in Prison” program. During a one-year commitment, trained adults serve as a friend and positive role model to help empower children to make positive life choices and reach academic, career and personal goals to maximize their community potential.
Mental Health America York & Adams counties is seeking volunteers for the Compeer program. Volunteers are matched to people receiving mental health care to provide friendship and support to bridge the gap between services and functioning in the community. Matches spend a few hours together shopping, going to the movies, or doing activities they both enjoy. In addition to one-on-one matches, there is another program where Compeer callers can spend a few minutes connecting with a match through phone contact offering friendly, supportive conversation. Training and orientation are provided.
The Lehman Center’s Parent Support Groups need volunteers who enjoy working with children and parents. Facilitators (adults 21 and older with parenting experience) are needed for community support groups to discuss raising children. Childcare volunteers are regularly needed to play with children during parenting groups days or evenings. Volunteers age 18 and older can help at the Center with childcare, the clothing closet, office work, maintenance or to provide transportation. Facilitator training/materials will be provided.
Crispus Attucks Association has a variety of volunteer needs. Adults are very much needed to deliver meals to seniors at their homes any Monday, Wednesday or Friday between 8 and 11 a.m. Volunteers, age 16 and older, can assist in classrooms working with children ages 3 months to 12 years, or help in the child care office. Other programs include the Rising Star youth program, senior center, computer lab, Youth Build, employment and training or facility recreation and maintenance assistance.
Y.O.U.T.H. Program Inc. in southern York County works with youth, animals and the community in an agriculturally focused business. Adult volunteers and interns are needed to mentor youth in construction, carpentry, gardening, computers and Web sites, newsletters, graphic design, photography, or training and caring for horses, puppies and sheep. Assistance is also greatly needed for grant writing and fundraising. Hours are flexible. Programs are held at the farm after school, Saturday mornings and summers.
