Actor George Clooney tried out with the Cincinatti Reds.
Singer Garth Brooks tried out with the New York Mets, Kansas City Royals and San Diego Padres.
Former New York Governor Mario Cuomo tried out, and had a contract, with the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Singer Charlie Pride had a contract with the New York Yankees' farm club in Boise, Idaho.
Kurt Russell played played in the minor leagues with the then California Angels, reaching as high as Double-A.
Conway Twitty was offered a contract by the Philadelphia Phillies.
