Last week’s field hockey battle between Shippensburg and Bloomsburg, which included three former YAIAA standouts, had not only PSAC implications, but the national rankings as well.
Bloom’s 5-1 win over the previously unbeaten Raiders moved the Huskies to No. 1 in the nation according to the this week’s pool.
Former Dallastown teammates Aubrey Carman (Bloom) and Amanda Strous (Ship) were both starters in the contest, as was New Oxford alum Mariah Wooters (Ship).
Although the Raiders dropped to second in the polls, both Ship and the Huskies knocked off No. 6 Kutztown over the past few days in the ultra-competitive PSAC, which also has East Stroudsburg (3), Mercyhurst (9) and Millersville (10) ranked nationally.
Other former YAIAA players in this group are: Kelsey Tucker (Dallastown) and Katie Anderson (New Oxford) play for East Stroudsburg. Molly Senft (West York) is on Kutztown and Brittany Anderson (Eastern York) is a member of the Millersville squad.
