Messiah at it again

| | Comments (0)

During the 2008-09 academic year, Messiah College won three NCAA Division III national championships and the institution is hoping for at least the same success this year.

Last fall, the Falcons went the distance in both men's and women's soccer and in the spring captured the school's first softball national championship.

Messiah has three contenders for titles this fall with both men's and women's soccer being in their respective tournament's Sweet 16. Of course for the men to reach yet another pinnacle, a potential semifinal battle with York College looms if both teams survive this weekend's regional competition in which both are host sites.

The new squad is the 21-0 Falcon field hockey team, which thanks to a 3-2 overtime win over Lebanon Valley are in the Final Four and will face Ursinus College on Saturday. A win would put the team in Sunday's championship game.

This kind of success makes it easy to see why USA Today did a feature story on Messiah athletics.
