With York College having a league-best 173, the Capital Athletic Conference posted its all-academic list on Friday, featuring a record 956 student-athletes that achieved a GPA of 3.20 or more at the league’s nine institutions.
The following local grads made the list for the Spartans.
Field hockey: Veronica Eltz and Casey Lawrence (Delone Catholic). Golf: Cody Trabert (Central York), Gage Weaver (Spring Grove). Men’s basketball: Todd Maciejewski (Red Lion), Kevin Whaley (Dover). Men’s cross country: Shane Lohss (Northeastern). Men’s tennis: Philip Myers (William Penn). Men’s track and field: Damian Myers and Jason Hinkle (Eastern York), Ryan Liggitt (Red Lion), Caleb Nelson (Christian School of York). Women’s volleyball: Jana Arentz (Hanover), Alysse Beshore (Northeastern), Ashley Rineman (Delone), Alishia Waltermyer (Red Lion). Women’s basketball: Jamie Polan (West York), Kara Snyder (Spring Grove). Women’s soccer: Kaitlyn Harney (York Catholic). Women’s swimming: Colleen Walker (South Western). Women’s track and field: Elizabeth Dende (South Western), Elexis Engram (William Penn), Brittany McFadden (Susquehannock), Amanda Parshall and Melody Parshall (Northeastern/home school), Caitlyn Rizzardo (Dallastown), Andrea Taylor (Central York), Tuesday Wilson (Eastern York).
Seven other YAIAA alumni made the CAC all-academic list at other conference schools. Salisbury University: Lauren Brenneman (Central York, softball) and Angela Hammond (York Suburban, swimming). Wesley College: Michele Mules (Susquehannock, women’s basketball) and Elizabeth Wallace (York Suburban, softball). Stevenson University: Andrew Shelly (West York, men’s basketball). Marymount University: Dana Zalowski (Susquehannock, women’s soccer). Hood College: Derrick Kuhn (Bermudian Springs, men’s soccer).
