"1/2 Hour" news?

Last Sunday, Fox News aired its "1/2 Hour News Hour" special - the first attempt I know of at a conservative news/comedy show.

Even though I'm conservative, I thought the show was somewhat disappointing.

"1/2 Hour News Hour" had its funny points - it began with a jump to 2009, to see the victors in the 08' presidential election: President Rush Limbaugh and VP Ann Coulter. The cut against Air America was humorous, and the phony ACLU commercials were interesting. But the "news" was just silly.

The two announcers were clearly faking it - they didn't seem compatible with the show's nature: Ed Begley, Jr., with a car that runs off human waste? The book, "The Little Engine that Couldn't Quite"? Ruthless dictator T-shirts? And the show went too far with its fictional Barack Obama magazine, "BO". That was inappropriate.

"1/2 Hour News Hour" was worth seeing once, but I don't plan to watch it again.

I thought the ACLU commercials were very much to the point. And, the Barack Obama segment was out-of-line, beneath Fox News. I did think that the "Six Degrees to Global Warming" was hilarious!
