My name is Nick Ryan. I have lived in York, PA for 11 years and have been homeschooled for 9 of those. My life has taken a number of interesting twists and turns and is always filled with adventure.
Here are three of the more interesting events of my life so far:
1. In September of 2003 I started the Pennsylvania-based Pogo Squad, a group of 12 extreme pogoers ranging in age from 9-18. As a group we began performing shows in 2004 and quickly gained prominence in this area. To this day The Pogo Squad still has a long list of bookings and the group is known by extreme pogoers all over the globe.
2. In August of 2004 I went to England with my family for four months. While there I wrote 17 weekly columns for YDR and learned a LOT about the world and the way we look at it.
3. On May 12th, 2006 I had a freak accident that left me paralyzed on the right side of my body for a month. This injury had me wheelchair-bound for the same amount of time. I spent 3 weeks in Philidelphia recovering. I was forced to quit pogoing and have continued to abstain for nearly 10 months. Whether I like it or not, by now it is clear that, at least among the newer people in my life, I am defined by my accident.
I have a number of interests aside from writing. I enjoy theater, music (piano), extreme pogo, and web-design (ThePogoSpot.com)
My current focus in my life is college. I applied to nine schools in November and have a few more weeks of waiting before I find out where I've been accepted/rejected. My top choice school is Cornell.
My #1 goal in life is to Play tag in a cornfield at twilight while it's drizzling

I guess you one-upped me: I applied to eight colleges. I probably wouldn't have been able to stand another application anyway.
My first choice is Johns Hopkins, but I applied to Cornell too - so I might see you there this fall.
I really admire that goal Nick because I think it's totally doable.
Gasp! I've already accomplished your goal. I remember getting lost a lot. And falling.
I love the pogo picture, very unique. Good luck with college acceptance!
