What do you think of standardized testing?

| | Comments (0)

In recent years, standardized testing has become a major issue of debate for both the government and local communities. With the No Child Left Behind Act, schools are held responsible for the performance of all of their students on standardized tests. As the government is rating schools based on the test scores of their students, I asked some York County teens, what is your opinion of standardized testing?

Vanesa Jimenez, sophomore at West York Area High School

"If the school must test, they should test after lunch. The schools shouldn’t put so much pressure on the students."

Dan Stelly, sophomore at York Suburban Senior High School

"I don’t think that the tests are the most accurate way to determine students’ abilities. Add the fact that some of the students don’t care about them, and you have a very inaccurate report."

Rayna Tarlow, sophomore at York Suburban Senior High School

"I think it’s a bad thing. I mean, there are so many skills that can’t be measured by multiple choice questions."
