My apologies

| | Comments (2)

In light of what has happened with my "All About Dylan" piece, I would just like to say that I am sorry to "Kathy" and the rest of the Teen Takeover staff. I let my emotions get the best of me and said a few things that I wish I had not. I understand that criticism is a part of being a journalist...and accepting that criticism is part of being a good journalist. I also apologize for wasting server space for this, but I feel it was necessary. Once again, I am sorry.

Since no one is commenting, I guess I can say that I'll read your articles.
FYI - The York Daily Record has printed many letters to the editor that point out sloppy spelling and criticize the paper's opinions and the local journalists, including the teens. I've read some nasty name-calling. If you want to make a difference or have people learn something from what you write, you have to make sure that what you write cannot be misinterpreted. Also, if you have a lot of errors and misspelled words, your readers will focus on that and not on what you have to say. Personally, I look forward to reading some more conservative articles, since newspapers and journalists tend to lean liberal. Even if you do this, you should still be prepared for fireworks. And, you should be happy about that because you know that people have read your article, thought about it, disagreed and taken the time to comment. You should appreciate all your readers, even those that disagree with you.

You might get some deserved attention for your controversial articles, Dylan. Staff members seem to be intrigued by all the fuss. I can't wait to read the feedback on your articles. Of course, I can't wait to read your articles either.
