It's always hard to say goodbye to a
friend.It's like praying to a star every
night but in your sleep it dies out,
dries out, and soon you find
yourself cried out.
Like hoping that your light shines
for all to see, but the more you try
the dimmer your light gets until you are
left with nothing but a dull memory
of what never came to be.
See, with this loss comes pain and
with pain comes rain that doesn't
soothe your soul but drives you
insane. But yet it falsely comforts
you only to hurt you again........
Im saying goodbye to a friend but
im not alone and slowly I've grown
and im trying so hard to understand
what lesson is being shown, but
forgive me GOD cuz I just don't see
it. No my bird isn't caged, but it
still hasn't flown to where it
desires to go, to know, and although
this is hard to admit I can't quit
cuz I'm saying goodbye, I just
gotta try to move on and find two
strong legs to stand on.
So I thank my friend for inspiring me
and even goin through the fire with
me and telling me what I don't see
I can be. We've built what it takes
others a lifetime to even aspire to
design......a friendship built with
love, happiness, experience, tears,
long talks, well needed walks,
advice, and saving my life not once
but twice.
Thanks for the moments to wonder
what we'll be one day, where we'll
see one day, and how we made jokes
in our own secret ways, but I never
thought I'd have to say goodbye to a
friend like you until my dying
day.
Wow. It's been a long time since a poem has brought tears to my eyes. I am sincerely and very, very deeply touched by this. I've lost some friends in my life and this has reminded me of those times. Of having to move on and keep those memories of the good times. Thank you!
