The Power of Words

| | Comments (1)

Words are more powerful than most people realize. They do so much more than help us convey our own selfish thoughts and opinions. The ability to communicate effectively in the way we do is one of only a few fundamental differences between us and animals. After all, didn't we become Teen Takeover members to learn how to make our words more powerful and effective?

Sometimes it seems that we narrow the arena in our minds of what great and numerous things words can really do. Language helps us do much more than express our feelings and opinions; it defines us as a species and makes the world a better (or sometimes worse) place. The power of words brought us out of the caves, civilized us into towns and cities, made survival more practical, brought us through the Dark ages, spurred on the Renaissance, and made us the powerful and advanced society we are today. What would your daily life be like if you could not convey information and your thoughts to others through speaking and writing? We would virtually be animals without words. Words are very powerful. Use them carefully and wisely.

Sound advice, Nate. My personal preference is the written vs. the spoken word. I express myself much more clearly through writing. What's your preference?
