I'm trying to expand my musical horizons! Even if it's an old band I might not have heard of, or a country song you absolutely love. I'm willing to try anything.
I recently read a documentary on punk, and I found so many new bands. [They were actually old bands, but hey, they're new for me!] Now I have to wonder what else is out there that I'm missing!
Do you have any suggestions?

I'm going to suggest something that you will probably hate (but oh well). The Mamas and Papas are an awesome band from the 60's.
Like Seth, I'm going to take a gamble and suggest an older singer. Billy Joel is one of my faves, I have a lot of him on my Ipod. If you're looking into newer, I recently got into the Fray--two different sounds, but both are good.
Bright Eyes...Mindless Self Indulgence...The Cure...Billy Idol (haha)...
I love John Mayer...
Ahh, I should be working.
Damien Rice ("O"), Morcheeba ("Big Calm"), Jeff Buckley ("Grace), The Arcade Fire ("Funeral"), Fiona Apple (all three albums are strong), Neko Case (any album) and Led Zeppelin (any album) are my recommendations off the top of my head.
You guys are amazing, thanks!
Oh! Punk Goes 80s (album) is great. And Barenaked Ladies.
David Byrne. He was the lead singer for the Talking Heads (they're good too) but get his albums "Feelings" and "Look into the Eyeball." They rock. Also Ween, Tool, Korn... And, if they complain, don't tell your parents you got those from me. I'm supposed to be a grownup.
I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love...My Chemical Romance's first album...and most hardcore and real, according to 'MCR sold out' advocates. They're screaming about vampires and zombies...of course its hardcore.
umm...Dashboard Confessional :)
I agree with Alex =)
But some of my new favorites include some Jason Mraz, The Juliana Theory, Making April, and My Favorite Highway.
