I don't usually agree with Mike Argento. But I do now.
"People care a lot more about dogs than they care about human beings. I'm not making an accusation just an observation."
I guess it makes me wonder when a news story about a cat being killed comes along (or something of that nature) and people get really upset about it. Then reports come in about 200 people being killed in Iraq and they don't seem to think it's a big deal.
Like Mike said, just an observation, not an accusation.

I guess people have heard about those deaths too many times, it just doesn't faze them anymore.
But yeahh, I agree with Mike.
Very true.
Wow, this sounds strikingly like a conversation that was had in a certain journalism classroom last year...haha. I completely agree, good point.
Who was that conversation with Britt? haha. =)
I thought of the same thing actually.
This is because people look at animals as innocence, things incapable of causing harm other then to protect themselves, food, and things you have to do... people are constantly causing pain.
People might react more strongly to animals being killed because we look at them as being defenseless. Especially animals we keep as pets, we're supposed to care and provide for them. If, instead you're negligent or you use them for, say, dog fighting, that's abuse, and it's inhumane. It raises the question should we value all life equally?
