How to paint a room

| | Comments (1)

When we first moved into our house, I badgered my mom about when my room was going to get painted. She decided out of the blue that I was going to paint my room. This how-to can help teens with home-decorating and independent-living skills in the future.

Step 1: Go to a local store that sells paint (i.e. Wal-Mart, Home Depot or Lowe's).

Step 2: Get one roll of masking tape, one gallon of paint, two roller covers, one to two rolling pins, a paintbrush and a painting tray.

Step 3: Clear the room.

Step 4: Tape the baseboards and the ceiling around the room.

Step 5: Use old blankets or sheets to cover the floor. This prevents the floor from getting any paint stains.

Step 6: Unscrew light fixtures and the electrical coverings on the walls.

Step 7: Open the paint can.

Step 8: Put a roller cover over a roller pin.

Step 9: Pour paint into the tray.

Step 10: Dip rolling pin into tray and start painting!

Step 11: Use a paintbrush to paint around the baseboards and the ceiling.

Step 12: Clean up and let the paint dry before you bring the furniture back into the room.

Step 13: Enjoy.
