Ways to eat healthier

| | Comments (2)

So when I decided I wanted to look good in my new hot pink homecoming dress, I decided I might try eating healthier. Giving up chocolately treats and soda was not my idea of a good time, but I did find some things that worked!

1. Apples! This has been my favorite snack instead of the pop-tarts and cheese crackers I used to eat before field hockey practice. I eat at least one a day. They're sweet and healthy--add peanut butter for a fun twist.

2. Cut the sodas. Soda can have lots of sugar and tons of empty calories. Instead, try a flavored water that has few to no calories but some definite flavor. Another good alternative is 100% juice.

3. 100 calorie packs. They make 100 calorie cookies, candies, pretzels, chips--almost anything! They're certainly healthy and good on the go.

4. Fudge bars. I love ice cream but that can be loaded with calories and sugar. Instead, I tried fudge bars that can have as few as 100 calories. They have all the flavor of ice cream without all the fat.

5. Moderation. It's fine to eat some of your favorites--an ice cream cone, a doughnut--but all in moderation. I allow myself sweet stuff sometimes, but usually only on the weekends. Pizza is definitely not the same without a glass of Pepsi!

Try some of these...I feel a lot healthier and a lot better about myself! =)

I love your advice. I was trying to eat healthier too, but this morning a sticky bun got in my way...with icing...mmmm. Oh well, one won't kill me right?
