Laughing is Better than Screaming Anyway

| | Comments (1)

I finally did it. I finally experienced the epitome of teenager Halloween experience. After seventeen years, I finally went to Field of Screams.

Admittedly the trip morphed more into the Field of Laughter rather than the attraction’s actual title, but that twist only added to its charm. Where else would I get to see a panicked woman smacking an attacking ghoul with her purse other than on the Haunted Hayride? Where else other than the Den of Darkness would a bloody man tell me “wrong way, idiot!” if I couldn’t see well enough to find the door? And where else would I see my friends completely freaked out with nervous anticipation? (All right, so maybe I scare my friends on a daily basis. Field of Screams is different. Trust me.)
Even more amusing than the main draws of the excursion were the extra events outside of the haunted houses. With features such as the FOS version of American Idol and a manually-operated exploding outhouse, the laughter just kept bubbling.
Unfortunately I didn’t have time to visit the Asylum, the third haunted attraction. I’ve heard it’s quite amusing, which wouldn’t surprise me at this point. Maybe someday I’ll be lucky enough to say “Yes, I have completed the triad of attractions. I am a Field of Screams groupie.” Even if laughs were more prevalent than screams, I’m still happy I can finally recount my teenager rite of passage that is traveling to Field of Screams.

I still have yet to go.

I'm going to!

I'm just not sure when.
I'm glad you enjoyed it!
