Five ways to cure your winter woes

| | Comments (0)

As autumn breezes change to blustery winter winds, we gear up for a season of happiness, cheer and snow. Instead of wasting your days waiting for the snow to stop, take these tips and make the most of those unexpected snow days.

1. Get active! Take up a winter sport. Get a gym membership. Sign up for a fitness class. It'll warm you up and keep you in shape until spring rolls around. Take a friend with you to double your fun.

2. Find someone to cuddle with. Grab a favorite flick (try something Christmas-y such as "The Santa Clause" or "Jack Frost"), pile on the blankets, make some hot chocolate and popcorn, and enjoy your night with a friend (or a special someone).

3. Make yourself a smoothie. Cut up fresh fruit, and pretend it's 85 degrees instead of 35 degrees. Invite a few friends and throw a Hawaiian luau inside. Buy paper umbrellas for your drinks, leis and seashells (but you might want to skip the bathing suits!).

4. Be productive. Organize your closet. Clean up your room. Start on that long-term school project. Being snowed in is a great time to finish up those chores you promised yourself you'd do sometime.

5. Make Christmas gifts for friends and family. It's easy to scrapbook with just some colored paper, scissors and glue. Mixed CDs are also a great option. Have fun with it - and get yourself in the holiday spirit.
