I'm in the mood for an Alice Hoffman novel. Does anyone get into moods for a certain author? Around early spring, I suddenly want to read everything Stephen King ever wrote. I think that's because one spring I read S.K. book's outside on the hammock. Also, when I read Alice Hoffman books, it was around winter. I would read them and eat bags of sour cream and onion chips. So, here I am, yearning for Alice H. and some chips. I think it fascinating that humans associate different time periods in their life with certain objects...like a book or a food item...or with music perhaps. Especially music. Although, as you age, you associate more things with music. Whenever an oldies song comes on the radio, my mom has a specific time, place, and person she matches with the song. I can't wait to be able to do that.

I could say how much this relates to my life, but that would take up the rest of this webpage. So, in short, YES, I totally get you. I have so many different associations with music, I could write a paper. I occasionally get in the mood for certain authors, but more often, certain books.
Interestingly enough, with me, it's chapstick. I have all these different scented ones, like vanilla bean and pina colada, and if I get just a whiff of one or the other, it takes me back to some point in high school...the memories, just the feeling of that time in general. Someone told me that sense of smell is the sense that makes you remember the best, and I can understand why.
Yeah...smell definately. With me, for every musical I've seen, there is always a whiff of perfume or cologne someone wears at the performance, and I can randomly smell the exact smell afterwards, and think of that musical. Even when I listen to the music at home, I can smell them again.
