Seton Hall a 'home for the mind'

Seton Hall University is a four-year private Catholic university located in the village of South Orange, N.J.

The Bishop of Newark, James Roosevelt Bayley, founded the university in 1856. His motto was, "A home for the mind, the heart and the spirit." The university continues to follow his vision as "a force of intellectual, and spiritual formation, as well as for social and economic justice," according to a school brochure.

The campus is 14 miles from New York City, convenient for seeing plays and going on trips.

Student-faculty ratio: 14:1

Majors: More than 60, which range from Africana and Diaspora studies to business administration. Pre-professional programs in medicine, law and dentistry are also offered.
