A computer as thin as air

The name of the newest technological advancement brought to consumers by Apple Inc. is the MacBook Air. The name is not deceiving at all, considering the laptop is almost as thin as air.

The Macintosh notebook computer was revealed by Apple CEO Steve Jobs at the Macworld Conference & Expo on Jan. 15 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco.

Though it is ultra-thin, the laptop still has a 13.3-inch widescreen LED display and full-sized keyboard. The MacBook Air is also Apple's lightest laptop, weighing 3 pounds.

It can be so thin and easily transported because of many new innovations. Apple was able to shed weight by eliminating standard features of most laptops, including a removable media drive, security lock and Ethernet port. Apple is marketing the computer to people who use a lot of wireless technology.

The notebook costs between $1,799 and $3,098. Visit www.apple.com for more information.

After the iPhone and now the MacBook Air, Apple has proven it is one of the major leaders when in it comes to groundbreaking technology.
