A sad reality

Universal healthcare is one of the heavily-debated topics of the 2008 presidential election. But, until now, it's been one of those topics that I view apathetically. I agree it's important, and I also have an opinion on how it should be acquired (and, no, a mandate isn't the best way). It was today I realized the dire need of a universal healthcare plan in America.

While I was at work today, a woman became violently sick. When we asked her if she'd like us to call an ambulance, she refused claiming she didn't have the insurance to pay for it. This woman would have to sit there, suffering, simply because she didn't have insurance to pay for the correct medical care.

This shouldn't be the case. No American should have to suffer health-wise because they don't have the insurance. We have a moral obligation to provide for these people, and I can only hope the 2008 presidential victor, whomever that may be, can recognize this need and execute a plan accordingly.

I agree with you. It is sad to see people with out health care.

I'm still apathetic.

Hopefully John McCain is not.
