"The Paper"

As an editor-in-chief of my own high school newspaper, I was quite amused to see MTV had launched their own reality-TV show following the trials and tribulations of high school journalism.

The show featured power-hungry Amanda, who referred to herself as the "big cheese" (others dubbed her the "drama queen"). She was competing against Giana, Adam, and Alex for the coveted position of editor-in-chief, while still trying to manage the current newspaper staff. The opening scenes featured copy editor Amanda perfecting the grayscale of the entire paper while other editor-in-chief contenders (such as current clubs editor Giana) nuzzled with their significant other in the corner.

"The Paper" did have its share of reality but with an overdose of drama only MTV could provide. It was quite comical to watch these student battle it out in the newsroom and conspiring against Amanda when she was given the title of editor-in-chief. Perhaps its just my newspaper, but it's nothing like that. The drama is usually left to the catty girls at the lunch tables, not editors vying for the top. The show was quite intriguing, and, perhaps it's sad, but I'm sure I'll be tuning in next week.

And in the words of Amanda, "The color purple makes happy edits!"

I edited today in purple. =) haha.

That's a clever idea for a show, even if it isn't entirely accurate
