Lemme tell you fine people out there surfing the internet about senior week at the beach...
I was in Ocean City Maryland from June seventh to the fourteenth. Hands down, best week of my life. Obvious aspects of senior week helped make it amazing, but I will not specify what but anyone who has a brain in the head can guess.
The week was filled with hilarious instances. It was hard to go anywhere and not come in contact with a person not intoxicated out of his or her mind. For this aspect of senior week, at Ocean City, there was an organization called "Play It Safe." The whole point was to encourage taking responsibility for themselves by not drinking and driving. Different events like an all-you-can-eat pancake party was held, karaoke, pizza party, laser tag, and mini golf. All of it was free and for showing up (not even participating) gave you the right to a pink bracelet that you wore for the whole to ride the bus for free. AWESOME DEAL.
Speaking of the bus (which has been given the title "The Drunk Bus") there were police officers on some buses but only to crack down on drunk people starting fights. Police officers could clearly tell that there were MANY people drunk on the bus but they didn't do anything, thinking they can't arrest everyone who has been drinking.
Speaking of the police, one night on the boardwalk a riot broke out. It started with a drunk guy (go figure) who pushed a cop and then a fight ensued. The drunk guy's friends started chanting "Police Brutality" and soon got everyone around shouting it. 4 more fights branched out from the boardwalk and continued into the streets. The S.W.A.T. team even showed up and I witnessed over 40 cops (yes... im that sad i counted) speed down Coastal Highway to get to the mayhem.
While walking the boardwalk, there were many signs advertising senior week t-shirts. Some stores (including the 5 million Sunstations that are located in O.C.) had special deals that if you bought a senior week t-shirt (some included the 'Beer Pong Champ' or "I got Senior faced on S**t week') you got a free shot glass. Promoting underage drinking, perhaps?
Of course the beach itself was filled with beautiful women with bikinis. While at the beach, i got so dark that I could pass for someone who immigrated from Kenya.
While partying at a friends house, the air conditioner broke. NOT GOOD. One morning, at 6 a.m. it was already 85 degrees. By 2 p.m. I was sweating like R.Kelly at the Nickelodeon Kid's Choice Awards.
Speaking of R.Kelly, while at the beach, my dad (Happy Father's Day to any Father's reading this by the way) texted me that R.Kelly was acquitted. I nearly dropped my phone in the sand. He also texted me that Tim Russert passed away. I was shocked. I am not a very political kinda guy but I did watch him every Sunday. He was a great man, journalist, and I will truely miss him.
Though I have only shared 1% of what happened during senior week (due to most of the stories are inappropriate) I must end with one story that hopefully helps teach a lesson........
While on the bus, my friend was sitting next to a man with a brand new iPhone. My friend has been wanting one so bad, so he wanted to ask this guy what he thought of it. They talk for awhile about it, including all the cool features and disadvantages about it. The man said that he saved up his money for a very long time to get an iPhone and for senior week. As they continued to talk the man became visibly sick. The man threw up on himself but manly on the iPhone. My friend dodged the vomit and noticed that the puke completely ruined the iPhone screen. The man nearly cried and then mentioned that he had 12 shots including Jack Daniel's, Vodka, and Gin.
The lesson is perhaps to not drink (or atleast not that much in a short period of time) or the lesson that my friend learned....
DON'T GET A NEW PHONE BEFORE SENIOR WEEK.
