You should get the new Cute Is What We Aim For album / I hate Panic! at the Disco
Yesterday Cute Is What We Aim For released their sophomore album Rotation. Although this is biased because I'm a fan of almost all things Fueled by Ramen, you really should consider picking up this album. These guys really have a knack for song writing; their observations of society are amusing and the accompanying music is catchy. Cute isn't the best FBR has to offer -The Hush Sounds holds that title - but they aren't the worst either. Panic! at the Disco wins that award.

'Cute' and The Hush Sound are alright but lets just be honest...The Cab is the best on FBR. Better song writers, better instrumentalists, better singer, better band. Nice try D-Mac.
p.s. Panic at the disco dropped the exclamation point...someone's a little out of date
=)

Really! Panic! got! rid! of! the! "!"? I! am! sorry! to! hear! that! The! Cab! is! good!, but! The! Hush! Sound! is! the! best! and! most! innovative!

...you better watch the sarcasm there, Shiffer. I guess I apologize for liking better musical artists...
;)

Hey, I'm AngelaMarie and I'm new to YDR.
First of all, let me say Cute is What We Aim For is talented and I like them.
Fueled by Ramen is THE best. I mean, all major labels aside, Fueled By Ramen has done exceptional for itself. The Hush Sound wins over Cute Is What We Aim For many times, songs like "Practice Makes Perfect" and "Navigate Me" are a little too Metro Station for Fueled By Ramen's taste. In the style of Hellogoodbye, it encorporates almost-techno beats and sweet harmonies. Not saying that CIWWAF is Click5 upgraded (CIWWAF is much better), I'm saying that the Hush Sound is organic in taste and style. Incorporating Jazz and everything.
Panic at the Disco has fractured the Fall Out Boy trend, while they do run after the almost-techno and sweet melodies, they are directed toward a more serious album, if not more serious much darker than Rotation in A Fever You Can't Sweat Out.
And sorry man, Panic At The Disco matured or something and dropped the exclamation point on Pretty.Odd. Sad, I liked the exclamation point.

I'll never like Panic. Nice analysis though, Angela. I can't say that I agree with "Navigate Me" sounding like Metro Station. I know both bands fairly well and I other than the sexual nature, I don't see the connection. Regardless, welcome to Teen Takeover, and I'll take care of the double post.

Thanks Dylan!
haha first I like Cute Is What We Aim For a lot better lol. well its no question, CIWWAF is better than Metro Station!!!, if I weren't comparing just that song, it'd be a mistake. haha I can see why you don't like Panic and sometimes I don't myself lol, every time I listen to A Fever You Can't Sweat Out, it's mixed feelings, why the techno with the strange lyrics with the harmonies with those long meandering titles?? but I do love them :).
But the Hush Sound is one of the best bands recently made, Fueled By Ramen should be bristling with pride. The Hush Sound is no Fall Out Boy or Panic at the Disco, it's not boy-band pop-punk it's something quite different and new and I enjoy it. I agree w/ you Dylan, the Hush Sound holds the title :) and the best and innovative.
o and thanks for deleting the second!!

What has happened?
Last year, when several seniors (Nick Ryan, Toni, etc.) and I left the Teen Takeover staff, I did not expect the quality of the staff's writing and of the website to drop THIS much. The website has become more like Myspace, and forgotten its purpose - to represent high school students journalism and ideas. You guys are supposed to be representing the York Daily Record and your fellow high school journalists, but the current posts on this website are full of shabby grammar, style, flow, and logic (especially from the newest staff members, whose "Meet the Staff" posts were written rather poorly.) Where are the opinion pieces, the product reviews, the interviews? The site is peppered with random worthless posts (like about watching a basketball game). You all seem to be able to come up with an occasional CD review, but there's nothing else of substance. Sue had to force you to tell about your dream jobs to get something substantial on the website. I imagine the monthly teen page in the newspaper isn't much better than the site anymore.
I've been watching the website ever since I left the staff to attend Johns Hopkins. What I see makes me sad. You guys need to take this a little more seriously. Again, you represent the York Daily Record - a REAL newspaper (Mr. Argento aside).
By the way, you're not included in this complaint, Dylan. You do good work.

Thanks, Jake. We think along the same lines, but most of them think I'm just being an asshole when I say that. I might print this out and take it to the next meeting.
Jake · June 28, 2008 10:25 PM
Do that. In fact, when is the next meeting? I want to come if I can make it.
Jake · June 29, 2008 12:47 PM
Ah well - I have to go to work in an hour.
Jake · June 29, 2008 8:51 PM
Did you bring it to the meeting?
Dylan · June 30, 2008 12:23 AM
I mentioned it to Sue, I didn't feel like it was appropriate for me to tell the kids what to do. If the girls (Sue, Kara, Jen) have a problem with the blog then they can handle it...that's their job, not mine. That said, I totally agree with you. Thanks for the comments.
Sue · June 30, 2008 3:24 PM
This is Teen Takeover co-leader Sue. Jake, thanks for pointing out that we've been playing a bit loose with grammer and spelling on the blog. I'll mention that to our staff. Keep in mind though, we have plenty of younger staff member who might not have benefited from years of editing and feedback in comparison to others. Our goal for the Teen Takeover staff on newsprint and on the Web is to reflect what York County teens care about, whether that be ranting about umpires at a softball game, mourning the loss of a relative, or writing about presidential politics. We don't want the staff to feel censored in what they write about (well, aside from profane and overtly offensive material), we want it to be about them. This is their spot to be as playful or as serious as they want to be. It saddens me that people feel there aren't worthwhile things to read on the teen site these days. But, I for one am going to disagree. In the past month we've had stories on everything from how to shop green, to reflections from graduating seniors, to a rant about PETA. We've had plenty of teens jumping in to share their thoughts about summer and picking colleges and what's new in music. The fact is, I think our teen staff is doing an excellent job reflecting their interests on our site and in the newspaper.

Thanks, I was kind of confused with Jake Mokris' post, but you cleared it up for me.
