Reading this Summer

Before Christmas, I had the easiest time finding books ever. You could ship me away to a bookstore for five hours and I'd be Okay. And let me peruse the shelves, pulling out this book or wishing I had enough money for this book. The people at the library started to know me by the armful of books I kept dropping over everybody. I was looking forward to when school let out so I could read into the wee hours of the morning.
Well this summer, the time when I usually read until 2 AM every night, I've stopped reading. Whenever I go to the library, I'm suddenly overwhelmed at what to get. Recently I've stayed with the English-course classics and stuff my friends kept ordering me to read until I caved in: The Grapes of Wrath, Catcher in the Rye, Twilight. I'm reading all the books from the Wrinkle In Time series now. Then I tried political thrillers, but when the guy sits there in THE suspicious airplane or helicopter that makes no noise, talking about the different versions of guns in Algeria, I snore. I'm not quite sure what I'm supposed to read, which drives me crazy because I used to love to read. But all the 'Meet Kit Kittredge!' American Girl books and petty thief-mysteries just ain't doing it. Do you have any reccomendations for good books that are out there?

I read a couple of the Wrinkle in Time series books... I've been wanting to read them all because I love them. I'm suggesting The Memory Keepers Daughter by Kim Edwards. I will also suggest Pride and Prejudice because it seems like it is in a genre you haven't mentioned. The Grapes of Wrath is long! Have you read it yet? Did you like it? I'd be interested to know since I had to read that for school.

yeah I love the Wrinkle in Time books too. One of the many reasons I love them is Madeline L'Engle is such a GOOODDD writer, her language is beautiful, but not too beautiful. And the books are deep without swallowing you, by keeping a rope of reality by there always. I just finished the Young Unicorn (which is interesting, because the book's about New York City and surgery and the Cathedral there and there's no mention of unicorns!). When you think of the big picture of all her novels, it's amazing I mean really amazing. I read the original Wrinkle in Time quartet when I was little and remembering that and reading her work beyond that (understanding how it all interconnects) just is amazing. lol
I've heard of the Memory Keeper's Daughter, what's it like?
Oh the Grapes of Wrath is a good book. It's good and about the Dust Bowl and a family who despairs for a job and migrates to California. It's like nitty and gritty and real, though. Cons: there's some language in it so if that bugs you, just skip over it. The book is mucho long, sometimes the writer goes off on tangents about bus-stops and joints( some of which I skipped over, shhhh). And the ending cuts you off short, but it kind of bugs you all day, but in a good way. It's a well-written book, I can totally understand why people love it, it like understands the world in a mature way. I think you might like it, I did.
