'Book of Secrets' is over the top

Back to solve the puzzles of American history, Ben Gates (Nicolas Cage) is on yet another mission to clear his family name in "National Treasure: Book of Secrets," the sequel to 2004's "National Treasure."
Cage joins a stellar cast including Justin Bartha, Diane Kruger, Jon Voight and Helen Mirren.
Together, the team travels the world to prove that members of the Gates family were not key conspirators in the death of Abraham Lincoln. As they travel to destinations such as Paris and London, Gates and his friends luckily find the missing pieces to their puzzles.

The movie proved to be over-the-top with imagination. Realistic expectations of everyday life were not met as characters successfully kidnap the president of the United States, break into Buckingham Palace and find a city of gold at Mount Rushmore.
However, "National Treasure: Book of Secrets" does show the positive connection of family bonds and proves the point that teamwork always works.
Although unrealistic in plot, "National Treasure: Book of Secrets" demonstrates the meaning of family and togetherness.

I agree with you. "Book of Secrets" is a great movie, I mean, easily among the top 10 of this year. Although the plot is unrealistic, let's keep this in mind...it's a MOVIE. Movies are meant for entertainment, not presidential kidnapping guides. Any more realistic and only certain people of certain said places like the White House would be able to watch it. And...we're searching for treasure here. Everyone's dream, as we're sitting down with popcorn and stuff...who wants the movie to reach realistic expectations of everyday life? If our everyday life was like that, heck, we would not be watching movies.
Overall, though, great review :)

True, but I think there comes a point when you stop enjoying the movie and start mocking it if the plot is too unrealistic. In my opinion a movie of this nature can still be realistic without coming off as a confession tape entitled "how I kidnapped the President." It's a fine line, for sure.

Yeah...it is :). Watching it, I knew the plot was faulty, but it was fiction, so it really didn't bother me. I didn't let that bug me out of enjoying the movie. Plus, they show up a lot of tech to edge you along into thinking...well with the right technology it could happen. Correction: with a lot of tech and a lot of Hollywood. It's a thriller-type, and yes thriller types are incredible, but that's entertainment.

P.s. one thing that did bug me though was the actor impersinating the president...hah that made me laugh :)
