The Secret Life Of the American Teenager 2009!

They're going through it partially because shows like this one romanticize teen motherhood. It isn't all that it looks. The creators of the show should be ashamed--not only for presenting this topic from a slanted angle, but for creating such a lackluster flop and embarrasment to the entertainment world.

Let me reiterate. The topic of teen pregnancy isn't what worries me--after all, like you say, the rate is up from previous years. However, I am disappointed that the writers are presenting this topic only from a hyperdramatic perspective: a teen girl who decides to keep her baby in a romanticized light. The show neglects the other sides of the issue: girls who make different decisions about pregnancies, the impact on their families and friends, and how much work having a baby really is.

I agree that the decision whether or not to keep a baby belongs to the mother, but I have a problem with a show that makes everything out to be "perfect" with this controversial issue.

On the entertainment side, the writers should be ashamed of their mediocre attempts at producing a decent show. My sister (who is the same age as the girl, I believe) watches this show when she wants a laugh. So that, too, is to blame, not just how they handle the topic of teen pregnancy.

I watch this show when I'm in a bad mood because the hilarity never ceases to cheer me up.

The best show ever? I disagree.

This show is a hybrid of soap opera acting and plot lines and local news network mania over corrupt teens. Yawn.
