It's a small world, Laura Detter.

Before today's teen takeover staff meeeting, I was in Winterstown coaching the U13 Raptors soccer team with my dad and two other assisstant coaches. When the center referee arrived, I thought she looked extremely famillar. My dad suggested she took her referee class the same time we did. That may have been true, but that wasn't where I was remembering from. After the game, I made my dad drive so we would get to the meeting on time. During the 30 minute drive there, I kept thinking, Did she go to dance with me? Did I play soccer against her? Was she at the same volleyball camp? I arrived at the meeting at 2:58, thinking I was the last to arrive. However, four or five people came in after me. One blonde girl in athletic shorts and a t-shirt was among the last to arrive. She looked a lot like the ref at the game I just rushed away from. This girl seemed to appeared a bit shorter, than the ref at the game, so I just figured they had simillar features. Later, when signing up for stories, I just happened to catch the name of the blonde girl signing up for the Diary story: Laura Detter.

My dad made drive home seeing as I could use the practice on highways since I will be getting my license in a month. As we are pulling out, he asks me who was getting into the car with the Maryland license plates. I responded, "Laura Detter. Why?" He just thought it looked like a Mason-Dixon coach he knew, Glen Detter.

When my dad and I arrived home, I had pretty much forgotten about trying to figure out where I knew the game's referee from, trying to convince myself that Laura Detter only bore a slight resemblence to her.

Just as I was about to walk through the garage door, my dad says, "I checked the game report. The girl that refereed my game today was Laura Detter."

So, it's a small world, Laura Detter. What are the chances we end up at the same soccer game for two different reasons and then have to rush to a Teen Takeover meeting? Not to mention that I wouldn't even accept the fact that I thought you were the centering official of the game. You know, my first instinct when I saw you walk throught the doors was to ask you if you had centered a game today. I guess if I had done that I would have saved myself a lot of pondering, huh?
